Insect Fear Film Festival

Prior to attending the event, we thought we had a pretty good idea of what to expect. We thought that the crowd that would gather would be small. However, the auditorium was nearly full.

People we interviewed had different opinions about the event than we expected. TJ, for example was "disappointed" with how cramped the space was, and doesn't like bugs so only attended the event because his "staff told him to."

Another person who interviewed was May Berenbaum, the creator of the annual Insect Fear Film Festival, and "she is actually one of the very few people who has attended every single festival." Professor Berenbaum is in charge of the themes of the event, and she thought this year's Prehistoric Insect theme was pretty effective. Her overall impression of this year's festival was good due to the increased amount of people that were present. She was impressed with how many people showed up despite the cold weather.

We knew that there would be many kids at the event, and we thought that they would be scared of the bugs. However, the children were pushing each other, and squeezing through the adults to be next in line to hold the insects, touch the fossils, or look under the microscope.
